It may look like fun and games – and it is – but in between kids are learning how to become responsible adults, the kind of people a strong society depends upon.
"I remember on 9/11 my mom insisted on me staying there because it was the safest place for me to be after school while the nation was in panic and she was at work."

I love coming to the Club because it’s fun and because of the good staff. I love Angie and Michael (Club staff), the people that come to the Club and the activities we do like play dominoes, pool and learning groups. If I weren’t at the Club after school I’d probably be at home being a couch potato!”
The Club has enhanced my skills in communication, leadership, responsibility and money management. I work part time and the Club has enhanced my communication skills at my job.

I love the activities at the Club such as gardening and photography. I’ll definitely be going to the Club until I graduate!

I like the Club because I get to hang out after school and do cool things like create a new magazine for the Club. If I wasn’t at the Club I’d be at home doing nothing. The staff help me with my homework and study skills. Without the Club I really don’t know where I’d be right now.

I like hanging out with my friends and my favorite teachers at the Club. We went camping in Bastrop and it was a lot of fun. That was the first time I’ve ever gone camping!

My favorite thing to do at the Club is play soccer, especially when we get to play against other schools. I also play floorball and basketball. My favorite program is Weird Science because I want to do something related to science when I’m older. The staff are great and help me out everyday with my school and personal life. It’s a great place to be.

The Club is awesome! Right after study group we go to our classes, like my favorite is sewing. I’ve sewed backpacks, pockets, shorts, all kinds of stuff. The staff are cool. They’re fair and nice. If I didn’t go to the Club I’d be at home - being bored. I will definitely come to the Club in 7th and 8th grade!

I like the sports like basketball and also the Beat Lab. I learned how to make music and songs on the computer. The Club staff are cool and nice. If I ask them a question or if I have trouble at school they always help me work everything out.

"The staff were like those older brothers and sisters that will play kick ball with you but still get on you about doing your homework."
Edward, alumni
We get to play a lot of sports; I like to play soccer and football mostly. My favorite things to do are beat boxing in Beat Lab and and breakdancing. If I wasn’t at the Club I’d be at my house playing video games. The Staff are nice and help me out with school.

Because I am a Junior Staff, I get to help with Kids Café’ and with sign-in sheets. I also go to the Boys & Girls Club because my friends go there too. When you go to the Club you get to sign up for cooking classes, Rec, Beatlab, and lots of other stuff. It’s really cool. When I have homework, so I get to go to Homework Harbor where you get all your homework done. Then you get to go to Rec and play!
